Activision recently formed studio named Activision Blizzard Studios is planning a Netflix show based on its toys-to-life series. The show is called "Skylander's Academy" and is run by "Futurama" writer Eric Rogers.
According to Gamespot, Rogers has announced the premiere date on his Twitter page. "Skylander's Academy" animated series casts Justin Long ("Dodgeball") to voice Spyro, Jonathan Banks ("Breaking Bad") to portray Eruptor, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) to play Stealth Elf and Norm McDonald ("Saturday Night Live") to take the role of Glumshanks. Also joining in the cast are Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Bobcat Goldthwait, The Diamond Minecart, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O'Hara, Chris Diamantopoulos and Harland Williams, to name a few.
The "Skylander's Academy" fansite explains the premise of the show as Master Eon will be assembling "a ragtag group of heroes to protect the universe from evil-doers Kaos and the Doom Raiders." The world of Skylands is being threatened by a looming darkness, so it's up to Spyro and his fellow Skylanders to work together using their unique powers to thwart the incoming evil. The show will be filled with exciting and fun moments, especially humor, as each character demonstrates their personality quirks and differences.
The first "Skylander" game released on 2011 is entitled "Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure" which integrated the well-known purple dragon Spyro into the series. The latest game "Skylanders Imaginators" will be released on October 16, 2016 in North America and October 14, 2016 in Europe for the for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
"Skylander's Academy" Season 1 will be premiering on Netflix on Oct. 28.
