"American Horror Story" will return for another run in 2017. The horror anthology series produced by Ryan Murphy has been renewed for Season 7 by FX.
Fans of American Horror Story just received awesome news. On Tuesday, FX has announced that the show will be returning next year to tell more provocative and creepy stories - The Hollywood Reporter has learned. As usual, details on the new season's theme and setting were not disclosed.
"Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining, and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment," FX Networks and Productions CEO John Landgraf said in a statement.
"The sustained success through six installments only proves how intensely the series resonates with fans."
Creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy, meanwhile, has dropped an early tease about "American Horror Story" Season 7. Murphy recently revealed in a report from Entertainment Weekly that much like Season 6's Roanoke, the upcoming installment is also bound to deliver shocking twists and turns.
"It's also a narratively strange idea," Murphy said.
"I've already started to call people saying, 'Put this on your calendar.' It's a good one."
The early Season 7 pickup of "American Horror Story" comes after the third episode's outing into its current sixth season. Roanoke, which was kept tightly under wraps for months, debuted strong with 5.6 million viewers under the 18-49 demographic. At this point, it is unclear whether original cast members such as Sarah Paulson, Katey Bates and others will join the new season.
"American Horror Story" Season 6 airs every Wednesday at 10PM on FX.
