There have been hints on how the next "Star Wars" episode will be, especially that some of the actors expressing their excitement on its script. One particular comment was made by Adam Driver, the actor who played Kylo Ren, who said the movie would be darker and grittier. However, the actor was quick to clarify what he really meant at the time.

The original quote from an early interview in September mentioned him saying: "It's great. It's similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go "oooh, it's dark" but I don't know that it necessarily is. It's just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear. He (Rian Johnson) trusts [that] his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity. He's not dumbing anything down for someone and that's really fun to play."

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Kylo Ren actor mentioned that he wanted to clarify he meant with that statement. He had meant that the "the tone of ['Star Wars Episode 8'] was different," instead of it being dark and gloomy. He made it clear that he may have used a "bad example" to describe the next episode of the sci-fi epic saga. Driver will probably try to think of another reference for a movie to describe it with next time, but he did stress that the script "was not what [he] expected, in the best of ways."

"Star Wars Episode 8" won't be directed by JJ Abrams but it will be helmed by "Looper" director Rian Johnson, making the directive style different from the previous movie. It was also reported that the 9th episode will be even more different than Episodes 7 and 8 because it will be directed by "Jurassic World's" Colin Trevorrow.

Screen Rant also mentioned that the Episode 8 screenplay has been praised a lot by the actors. Adam Driver has also spoken highly of the upcoming movie's script, even praising its "nuance and ambiguity." He was given also a new light on his acting by Johnson for Kylo Ren that he wouldn't think of considering previously. The actor also expressed on how lucky he was to work in an epic "Star Wars" franchise, with the directors having a "specific vision" for the character.

While news and rumors have been circulating, "Star Wars: Episode 8" will be premierign on Dec. 15, 2017. In the meantime, fans should look forward to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" opening in theaters on Dec. 16 this year.
