Netflix's 80s-set thriller "Stranger Things" is undeniably one of the most talked-about show last summer. It is not surprising that the show has been renewed for a second season.

According to a Vox report, the show's creators and producers have dropped quite a lot of info about what to expect on the show's second season during the New York Comic Con. The stars also shared tidbits of the upcoming season during the Comic Con.

One important info is the confirmation that Barb is dead for good. This is in response to clamor of fans who are holding up hope that the breakout character is still alive and will be back for season two. David Harbour, who plays Chief Hopper, made it clear she would not be coming back: "I can assure you that Barb is very much dead."

But fans will definitely enjoy the same aesthetic, tone, pace, and characterization with season one as the same creative team is back for the new season. Matt and Ross Duffer or the Duffer Brothers will still be behind the creative wheel together with producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.

The new season will pick up in 1984, a year after the events in season one. So there will still be a lot of 80s nostalgia, aside from trying to gap the storyline from the previous to the current season. As stated in the same report, the producers purposely chose to skip a year after the original events to match the real-life growth of the child actors in the show.

While this may well be the second season of "Stranger Things", Netflix is packaging it as "Stranger Things 2". So it means that the upcoming season will be more of a sequel to the first one. This suggests that the show will be telling new stories rather than picking up the old storyline from the first season.

In an interview with producer Shawn Levy by Slash Film, he described the trajectory of season two as "continuing with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season" and "unearthing new problems."

Asked if they plan of following same characters for more seasons, he said "We definitely are hopeful to go several more seasons. And the plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season. So I'll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of Season one, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way."

"Stranger Things 2" will be comprised of nine episodes and Netflix gave a sneak peek of the titles for all nine, namely:

  • "MadMax"
  • "The Boy Who Came Back to Life"
  • "The Pumpkin Patch"
  • "The Palace"
  • "The Storm"
  • "The Pollywog"
  • "The Secret Cabin"
  • "The Brain"
  • "The Lost Brother"
