Point guard Damian Lillard is currently under five-year contract with Portland Trailblazers. But he said that when he becomes free agent and there is an opportunity, he would not join team like Golden State Warriors.

He said in the The Jim Rome Show on CBS Sport Radio Thursday Oct. 13, as quoted by CBS Sports, that he would not join superteam like the Warriors. He prefers to build up a team to achieve a championship level rather than join the team to pursue championship.

Previously many people considered him for having too much pride to make a move like Kevin Durant to join the Warriors. But Lillard clarified that he made the statement for himself, not related to anybody else.

"I was saying joining other big time players and joining a team like Golden State is that something I couldn't see myself doing," he said.

Although Lillard is one of the top-rated point guard in the NBA, but he and Trailblazers have lack firepower to win the championship as reported by Bleacher Report,. Lillard has a good tandem with shooting guard CJ McCollum but their level of teamwork is way below the Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This has been proven last season when the Warriors beat Trailblazers in five games in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Lillard joined Portland Trailblazers in 2012 when he was selected as 6th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. He made an impressive debut in Portland during his first season that earned him a Rookie of the Year Award. He made 23 points and 11 assists in his debut game against Lakers on Oct. 31, making him the third player whose debut recorded at least 20 points and 10 assists after Oscar Roberton and the leader of Detroid Pistons "bad boy" Isaiah Thomas.

During his four season in the Trailblazers, Lillard averaged 21.4 points and 6.3 assists per game. He is a prolific scorer for Portland and the team depended on him to make play and score.
