"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 resumes the old rivalry between Caroline Forbes and Elena Gilbert. It seems that Gilbert's return may not be to Forbes' advantage.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 continues to star "The Originals" actress Nina Dobrev as Elena, "Love Don't Die" actress Candice King as Caroline, and "The Late Bloomer" actor Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore. However, Dobrev has yet to confirm her reappearance in this final season.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is expected to dwell on Stefan and Caroline (Steroline) happy reunion. Caroline finally realized that she would never love anyone more than Stefan. She even parted ways with Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) in Season 7.
Stefan is really going to need Caroline in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 as his rock during his most difficult times. He is going to need someone for moral support since he is very determined to get his brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) back on track since Season 7 ended with Damon turning evil, TV Line reported.
According to TV Guide, Stefan is expected in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 to follow every possible clue that could lead him to Damon together with the very powerful witch Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham). He has to save him from a fate worse than death.
It has been rumored that the "Marco Polo" star Somerhalder does not want to be paired up with Dobrev in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 because of his wife Nikki Reed. Reed is reportedly jealous of her husband's ex-girlfriend Dobrev.
However, Plec is determined to bring Dobrev back in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Thus, it is possible that Dobrev will be coupled with Wesley instead of Somerhalder. After all, they were the original pair when The CW series was just starting.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 returns on The CW on Oct. 21, Friday, at 8 p.m. EDT.
