"The 5th Wave" star Chloe Moretz joins "Fifty Shades Darker" actress Dakota Johnson, "Doctor Strange" actress Tilda Swinton, and "Everest" actress Mia Goth in Luca Guadagnino's "Suspiria" classic horror remake. She is headed back to the realm of horror remakes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Moretz will lead the cast of "Suspiria" in an undisclosed character. Johnson will play as Suzy Bannion and is already deep in ballet training in her role preparation. Swinton will play as Mme Blanc and Goth as Sara.

"Suspiria" is a Latin word for "sighs" and is based on the 1977 film from Italian horror master Dario Argento, Variety reported. It follows a young ballet dancer who travels to a prestigious ballet academy in Germany. The dancer discovers the school houses sinister and supernatural secrets and frequently plays host to a series of increasingly grisly murders.

David Kajganich is penning the script based on "Suspiria" co-written by Argento and Daria Nicolodi. "A Bigger Splash" helmer Guadagnino is passionately directing. He has wanted to do a new re-imagining for some time and has been at the forefront of getting this remake off the ground.

"Suspiria" will be produced by Frenesy Film Company, Mythology Entertainment, First Sun Films, and Memo Films. The producers are Guadagnino, Brad Fischer, Kajganich, Francesco Melzi d'Eril, Marco Morabito, Gabriele Moratti, William Sherak, and Silvia Venturini Fendi. The executive producers include Mythology's James Vanderbilt, Paul Deason, Massimiliano Violante and Carlo Antonelli.

Amazon Studios has acquired the worldwide distribution rights and is financing the production for "Suspiria." WME Global and Carlos Goodman handled the deal with Amazon on behalf of the filmmakers.

Moretz has done plenty of work in pics with horror or supernatural elements. She played Carrie White in "Carrie" back in 2013, Carolyn Stoddard in "Dark Shadows" in 2012, and Abby in "Let Me In" in 2010. She was most recently seen showing off her comedic skills in the R-rated comedy "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising."

The production for "Suspiria" begins this October in Italy and Hungary.
