"Dishonored 2" has been one of the most highly anticipated sequels in Bethesda's lineup of awesome upcoming games. Right now, the game has just released a new trailer showcasing its new protagonist, Emily Kaldwin.
According to Gamespot, you can choose between playing as previous game's protagonist Corvo Attano or his daughter, the former Empress Emily Kaldwin. The story for the game will be the same in spite of who you will choose, however it will be told in different perspectives. Corvo will be voiced by Stephen Russel ("Thief") and Erica Luttrell will be voicing Emily.
The trailer spotlight shows a quick look at Emily's powers and her motivation for putting her skills to use in the game. According to PC Gamer, creative director Harvey Smith explains that the driving force for the assassin heroine is mainly taking back what's rightfully hers. As the former leader in her kingdom sees the "the corrupting influences of bad leadership," Emily's goal in the game becomes more about the people, doing right by them, and less about her.
"One of the underlying themes of the game is that Emily, as Empress, is used to depending on a lot of other people to get what she needs," explained the creative director. "And in this situation, she's really only got herself to depend on. And then on top of that, because she is a former Empress-an Empress on the run-people react very differently when they see her than they do to Corvo."
The video also showed Emily's abilities such as "Far Reach" and "Domino." The first ability is bit like Corvo's ability "Blink" but it's more flexible and can be used to grab enemies from afar. The second ability, on the other hand, is a devastating one depending on the use that if used as an attack, the target of origin can be linked to others within the immediate vicinity to share the same affect. One best example is that if Emily kills a target while using Domino, the other targets that are linked get killed too.
Smith explains that her powers are reflection of her unique status as an Empress. He further stated: "If you look at her powers, most of them are befitting of an Empress. She can link people together so they share the same fate. She can mesmerize a crowd of people."
"Dishonored 2" will be released on Nov. 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
