Nintendo is throwing their hat in the console wars with "Switch." Although the gaming company focused on what their upcoming console could do instead of the exact specifications, Nintendo also announced that it will include Tegra processor from NVIDIA.
Japanese gaming giant Nintendo is back with another console believe to rival existing consoles from Microsoft (Xbox One) and Sony (PS4). Dubbed as "Switch" the gaming console is unique compared to the existing consoles because it is practically a hybrid of a mobile device and the traditional console according to PC Advisor. Pricing speculation pegged the device could be from £399 ($485.00).
With Nintendo's upcoming console, players can seamlessly transfer their games from their main monitor to their mobile device. The mobile device is placed on a dock so players could interact with the game on a larger screen. If needed, the mobile can be easily pulled out of a dock while the game continues without any interruption.
Nintendo is still mum about the specs of their upcoming console. However, a device that could seamlessly transfer the game from large screen monitor to mobile screen in an instant requires powerful hardware. NVIDIA's blog post revealed that they will power the upcoming console.
NVIDIA revealed that the device will feature their latest Tegra processor although they did not provide the exact specifications. However, the company promised that the device will feature NVIDIA GPU that can rival today's top graphic cards. Nintendo and NVIDIA each created custom software and API in order seam the gaming for smooth and lightweight gaming experience.
Nintendo Switch is expected to arrive in the market March 2017 although the pricing and countries that will receive the first consoles were not named. In addition to release date, Nintendo also reiterated that the upcoming console is not backwards compatible and will use game cartridges instead of game discs.
Nintendo will once again join the console wars next year with their hybrid gaming device called Switch. Although not much is known about the device, it is expected that the device will drop in the market March next year and it's powered by the latest Tegra processor with GPU that can rival the best in the market.
