Kevin Durant will have a face-off with his former teammate Russell Westbrook in a game between Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder. He said that he still considers Westbrook as brother.

In an interview with San Jose Mercury News, Durant said that he still think Westbrook as brother despite all the speculation about their relationship. However, the interviewer reminded him that after playing together for eight years, Durant just sent Westbrook a text informing him leaving the Thunder.

“I understand that. I understand that. That’s something me and him will talk about. I’m not saying I’m right,” Durant replied. “We’ll figure our differences out as men 1-on-1.”

Ahead of the much anticipated game this Thursday, Durant tried to downplay the drama as reported by FOX Sports. However the first game between Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder is expected to be full of suspense as there are so many tensions that occur between Durant and Westbrook.

The game will become very sentimental because Durant and Westbrook have been play together since their first debut in the NBA. Durant was drafted first in 2007, when the Thunder was still based in Seattle. While Westbrook was drafted the next year as the team moved to Oklahoma.

Together Durant and Westbrook built the Oklahoma City Thunder to be a serious title contender. During their playing together for eight seasons, they have brought the Thunder to be a formidable opponent in the Western Conference.

However, being a serious contender is not a guarantee title holder. So, Durant announced his intention during the off-season to join the team that can guarantee him a title, Golden State Warriors.

After he was officially introduced by the Warriors as their new member on July 7, there are many controversies and negative comments surrounding his departure. His relationship with Russell was also reported to become cold.
