"Vampire Academy" actress Lucy Fry joins "I Am Legend" actor Will Smith in Netflix cop action movie "Bright." "Suicide Squad" helmer David Ayer is attached to direct.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fry will play the role of a young elf named Tikka in the magic-infused cop thriller package "Bright." She has powers in possession of the wand that must be protected by the human cop and the Orc. "Exodus: Gods and Kings" actor Joel Edgerton, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" actress Noomi Rapace, and Smith are also joining her.
"Bright" tells the story of a human cop named Scott Ward (Smith) and an Orc named Nick Jakoby (Edgerton). The two must defeat the cops, criminals, and an assorted coterie of supernatural beings in order to protect a magical wand.
The script of "Bright" is written by "Chronicle" writer Max Landis. It became one of the Hollywood's hotter packages after WME and CAA took it to buyers when Warner Bros was not able to make a deal for the rights, Variety reported.
"Bright" is a $90 million-budgeted film. It is the streaming giant's most expensive film to date. It is produced by "The Hunger Games" producer Bryan Unkeless and "Dawn of the Dead" producer Eric Newman.
Fry also starred in Hulu's science fiction thriller limited series based on Stephen King's book "11.22.63" opposite "King Cobra" actor James Franco and "Dracula Untold" actress Sarah Gadon. She also appeared in the director Bruce Beresford's drama "Mr. Church" alongside "A Thousand Word" actor Eddie Murphy and "The Longest Ride" leading lady Britt Robertson.
Fry also had a lead role in the Australian horror mini-series "Wolf Creek." She will be seen next in the Blumhouse thriller "The Darkness" with "X-Men: First Class" actor Kevin Bacon.
"Bright" is expected to start its production sometime this fall in Los Angeles.
