When we thought we wouldn't any more news on "Left 4 Dead," we suddenly get slapped on the face with a new update on the franchise. Although it isn't anywhere close to having "Left 4 Dead 3," fans would be getting a new campaign for free for the original "Left 4 Dead" game. It's revealed to be an official, yet unfinished campaign called "Dam It." The best thing about it is that it's free.

The unfinished "Left 4 Dead" campaign "Dam It" is free and set between "Dead Air" and "Blood Harvest"

As PC Gamer reports, the unfinished "Left 4 Dead" campaign, "Dam It," is developed by Turtle Rock and available for free for people who own the game. As the description implies, the campaign has never reached its completion, adding a "couple" of Survival maps that never saw the light of day until now. Story-wise, the campaign somehow connects the events of "Left 4 Dead's" "Dead Air" and "Blood Harvest" campaigns.

Turtle Rock co-founder Chris Ashton provides link to the unfinished "Left 4 Dead" campaign

In the actual forums of Turtle Rock Studios, co-founder Chris Ashton, was kind enough to post a link to the third-party source where the campaign is downloadable right now. There are two ways to download and install the "Dam It" campaign:

  • Automatic Install: unzip .vpk file and double click to launch.
  • Manual Install: unzip .vpk file and copy to Left 4 Dead 'addons' folder.

The unfinished campaign may have some issues

However, being an incomplete campaign, "Dam It" may be filled with issues and bugs. Here are the known issues:

  • Fire, smoke and explosions do not trigger panic events in the hangars.
  • Zombies do not crawl all the time in the orchard.
  • Farm house mob does not spawn in the far side of the woods.
  • Covered bridge does not collapse with explosions.
  • Burned forest area is missing wandering fires.
