Manny Pacquiao returned to the boxing triumphantly as he defeated Jessie Vargas in a unanimous decision. He won the WBO welterweight championship, a month before his birthday and shows the world that Pac-Man is still one of the best welterweight fighter in the world.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr sat and watched from the ringside as Pacquiao knocked down Vargas at the second round and continued to dictate him in the entire bout. He dominated the fight and won the bout in a unanimous decision on Saturday night Nov.5, FOX Sports reported.
The scorecard showed his domination over his opponent who is 10-year younger. Judge Dave Moretti gave him 114-113 while Glenn Feldman and Glenn scored 118-109 for Pacquaio. The bout as held at the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.
With this win Pacquaio tallied a record of 59 wins with 38 of those are by way of knock out, 6 losses and 2 draws. After the bout, Pacquaio said that he was delighted of his performance as quoted by Los Angeles Times.
“I’m so happy with my performance. I tried every round to knock him down/ I’ll fight whoever the people want me to fight, “ Pacquiao said. “I am not going to pick my opponent.”
Pacquiao is considered as one of the best boxer in the world. He is recorded as the only boxer who holds eight-division world champion. He has won world championship in the flyweight, super bantamweight, featherweight, super featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight and super welterweight.
He was born in the Philippine in the Bukidon, a province in the Northern Mindanao on Dec. 17, 1978. He moved to Manila in 1992 to start his boxing career. He made into a Philippine national boxing team with 60-4 amateur record.
In his professional career that has spanned 20 years, he has fought many renown boxers and defeated many of them. Oscar DeLa Hoya, Juan Manuel Márquez, érik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Floyd Mayweather, Jr are some of the world famous boxer whom he has fought.
Pacquiao is currently an incumbent senator in Philippine senate, representing Sarangani first district in the 2016 election. His official resident is in Kiamba, Sarangani province.
