Preview
Boston is currently on a two-game losing slide after winning three of their first four games this season. One of the main reasons for their consecutive setbacks is the absence of starters Al Horford, who is still in NBA concussion protocol, and Jae Crowder with a sprained left ankle.
Horford suffered the injury on Monday during practice when a teammate accidentally hit him in the head. He has already missed the Celtics' last three matches and is still not cleared to play against the Wizards.
The Celtics were routed by the Denver Nuggets, 123-107, at the TD Center on Sunday, as per CBS Local Boston.
Isaiah Thomas led the team with 30 points and five assists in a losing effort. Shooting guard Avery Bradley backed him up with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists while Marcus Smart contributed 13 points, five boards, and two assists coming off the bench.
A fast start from Nuggets point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, who scored 24 of his 30 points in the 42-23 first quarter run by Denver, derailed head coach Brad Stevens' boys from the jump ball and never recovered throughout the game.
"These signs aren't good. We're not giving our all on the defensive end," said Thomas. "We can have five starters out (but) you can definitely, it's a mindset thing on that end, and we've got to do a better job on that."
Meanwhile, the Wizards are also on a two-game losing streak, but they have only won once this season so far.
Their last game was a 114-106 whipping from the Houston Rockets on Monday also at their home court of Verizon Center, SB Nation reported.
John Wall had 21 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and two steals while Bradley Beal chipped in 20 points, two boards, three assists, and four steals.
Otto Porter Jr. continued with his scoring streak, firing 20 points on 6-for-13 shooting alongside eight boards, two assists, and three steals. Starting center Marcin Gortat also scored in double figures with 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Prediction
A bounce back win for the Celtics is predicted as they hand the Wizards their third straight loss.
