John Abraham has played the role of an angry young man in many of his films including "Dishoom" and "Rocky Handsome." However, the actor was left fuming in real-life after "Comedy Nights Bachao" host Krushna Abhishek made fun of his acting.
Abraham was a guest on the comedy show along with Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin to promote their film "Force 2." Everything was going fine and the stars were laughing off most of the jokes aimed at them, but things took a turn when the host started taking several digs at Abraham's acting talent.
"I was cracking jokes on his earlier films like 'Paap.' Abhishek told Bombay Times. "That's when he told me that those were his favourite films. Sometime later, when he refused to shake a leg with Sonakshi and me on stage, I realised that he was upset. He soon walked out and I ran after him, but he left."
The comedian said that he wanted to apologise to the actor for offending him and has been unable to sleep over the last couple of days because of the incident. He added that he took a break from his shoot in Kulu Manali and flew down especially for Abraham because he agreed to be on the show and hoped that the actor took this into consideration and forgave him for his actions.
Abhishek also noted that he and the 43-year-old actor have known each other for several years and he was the only Bollywood actor who rung him up when his father passed away recently. "I am really sad that I upset him," Krushna told the publication.
"Krushna ridiculed John's acting skills and that did not go down well with him," a source from the channel said in a statement to The Indian Express. "He left the shoot and Krushna even went after him to apologize and pacify him but John did not relent."
The source pointed out that a major portion of the show had already been filmed as Abhishek's act always takes place towards the end. The channel is yet to decide whether Abhishek's segment will be edited out of the episode.
"Comedy Nights Bachao" is a show that invites celebrities as guests and comedians roast them. This is not the first time the host's jokes have prompted an actor to leave the show mid-way. Over a month ago, "Parched" actress Tanishtha Chatterjee walked out after Abhishek cracked "racist" jokes on her skin tone.
