The realistic racing simulator has confirmed that they have no plans to make a Nintendo Switch version of the game. "Project CARS" has been highly anticipated by fans since the Wii U port of the game failed to materialize. The developer, Slightly Mad Studios was optimistic that the Wii U port would be competent but they were hit by numerous problems which caused delays and the eventual cancellation. One of the reasons why the game isn't being developed for the Nintendo Switch is because of the console's Tegra chip wouldn't be able to support the game's intensive requirements.
During the development of the Wii U version, the head of Slightly Mad Studios Ian Bell mentioned that they were not allowed to release a game that runs below 30 FPS. This proved problematic for them as their configuration allowed the game to run just slightly below that. The game itself was already said to be using all the power that the new generation consoles possessed. Despite the cancellation, "Project CARS" enjoyed good sales from all of the other platforms where it was available. The game was originally released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. There were plans for ports to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but all of them were cancelled due to difficulties.
"Project CARS" features over 74 cars with 30 locations and some are based from actual courses. The game became very popular as it tried to stay away from features of other simulators such as "Forza Motorsport" or "Gran Turismo". The game opted to make all tracks and vehicles available from the start of the game, with players having the option to choose between various motorsports paths. The game has both free and paid downloadable content (DLC). It regularly updated with new cars and also had three major expansions which were released in 2015. The developers then released a Game of the Year Edition last May 2016, which included all of the DLC along with new vehicles.
