After the controversial divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in September, the "Maleficent" actress finally made her first public appearance this week. Jolie spoke, through a recorded video message for the International Criminal Court, to support a policy of protecting the lives of children worldwide.

Jolie has been an advocate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has supported children's rights in countries such as Syria and Afghanistan for more than a decade now.

In her speech, she accentuated, "Successful prosecution and new legal benchmark, whether at the ICC or elsewhere, is a part of the long and vital generational effort", expressing her credence on such policy. She says this is how the new court policy should be seen. She commended the ICC for focusing on prosecuting crimes committed on children, as reported by The Huffington Post.

The 41-year-old actress is back to the industry after the allegations of child abuse on Brad Pitt were cleared by the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services.

Jolie's rep said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that the actress was relieved after the conclusion of the investigation on Pitt, as there was no validation of abuse. The children can finally heal, and that is what most concerns her - the health of her family. A source also tells ET that despite this, the visits of Pitt to his children are still being monitored with a therapist.

Pitt, in response to Jolie's divorce petition, filed a request for joint custody of the children earlier in November, - Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twin Vivienne and Knox, 8. A few days earlier, however, it has been reported that Jolie and Pitt had already spoken with each other, agreeing to a temporary custody arrangement.

Like Jolie, Pitt also made his first public appearance only this month in Los Angeles, after hosting a private screening of "Moonlight" with actress Julia Roberts.
