Preview

The Lakers have been a revelation this season under new head coach Luke Walton as the team is only eight victories away from the 17 wins they were able to earn last season under Byron Scott.

LA has split their last four games with a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder before falling twice to the Golden State Warriors in a span of three nights. They are coming off a 109-94 victory over the Atlanta Hawks last Sunday at the Staples Center to keep their record in the .500 mark, as per SB Nation.

The Lakers once again displayed their remarkable depth during the match as three bench players scored in double figures while only one starter was able to achieve such feat.

Lou Williams came off the bench to top-score for the Hollywood squad with 21 points that went with four rebounds and three assists. Jordan Clarkson, another bench player, fired 18 points with four boards, five assists, and two steals while Larry Nance Jr. chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards.

Nick Young was the lone double-digit scorer for the starters with 17 points.

Julius Randle missed the game with an injured hip while D'Angelo Russell continued to be sidelined by an ailing knee.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans are back to their losing ways with a two-game losing streak following four consecutive victories.

Their most recent game resulted in a sorry 91-81 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center also on Sunday night, the Times-Picayune reported.

Anthony Davis had another monster game with 36 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. He was the only double-digit scorer in the starting lineup as point guard Jrue Holiday came off the bench to score 17 points. Holiday also had four boards and six assists.

New Orleans is settled in the fourth from the last place in the Western Conference standings, above the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Mavericks.

Prediction

Los Angeles is 3-5 on away games this season while New Orleans is 4-5 at home. The Lakers are favored to win this match as they had been an inspired bunch under Walton.
