Tuesday's episode of This Is Us titled "The Trip," delivered an hour that made viewers feel different levels of emotions that ranges from sorrow, rejection, and fear.

This Is Us Episode 9 Recap: "Mom is selling the cabin"

The episode opened with the aftermath of Randall discovering that his mother, Rebecca hid the truth about his biological father for thirty six years. Furious, Randall made a list enumerating the reasons why he hates his mother.

Meanwhile, Kate and Kevin are debating over Kate's plan of getting a surgery. In the middle of their convo, Kevin mentioned that Rebecca is planning to sell their family's cabin, a place where all of their childhood memories are stored. Kate, who was having the 'carpe diem' vibe, insisted that she and her brothers seize the moment and head over to the cabin.

Shortly after they arrived, Kate was shocked to learn that Kev has invited Olivia, some guy (also her ex) and their playwright over. A few moments later, Randall started acting weird and began hearing things that aren't really happening. Apparently, he consumed a drug-infused drink (shrooms to be exact) that Olivia's guy friend left at the fridge earlier.

Randall immediately began to see visions from his childhood. He began having conversations with his dad as if he was there. He also saw his entire family playing board games as if it was happening in the present.

Although consumed by anger, his father made him realize to look deeper into Rebecca's situation throughout those years. There it was revealed before Randall's eyes that his mother was also carrying her own set of fears as a parent.

Meanwhile, on Kevin's orbit, his expectations from Olivia as gf material dropped to zero in this episode. Not only did she bring her ex-boyfriend to the cabin, she also managed to flirt with him in front of Kevin's face. Worst, they also insulted Kate as they were watching one of the Pearson's old home videos.

The next morning, Kate was surprised to find out that Kevin had slept with their playwright. Kevin has already moved on from Olivia, perhaps?

This Is Us Episode 9 Recap: Carpe diem

Although this episode did not focus much on Kate, her storyline about overcoming fear and seizing the day is the one that made the greatest impact. Her anxiety about not doing the surgery out of fear resonates on a scale that people who are going through something else hard will find totally relatable.

An all new episode of "This Is Us" titled "Last Christmas" will air next Tuesday, Nov. 6 on NBC.
