Since its first release in 1987, the "Final Fantasy" game franchise has become one of the most popular and best selling title in video gaming history. Over the course of time, various sequels, spinoffs, and versions have been released in multiple platforms.

According to Screen Rant, the game owed its popularity to its ever expanding cast and plot, the layered storytelling, and visually stunning graphics and design. The game is also praised for being a combination of the best in RPGs and action-adventure games.

As such, the "Final Fantasy" games have been very popular which resulted to several multi-media tie ins, most notable of which is the Disney crossover in the highly acclaimed "Kingdom Hearts" series.

The popularity of the "Final Fantasy" characters and titles have resulted to much fun fare upon announcement of release of its latest installment. Such was the celebration of fans when it was announced earlier this year that the latest title from the "Final Fantasy" franchise is due for release.

The latest installment is "Final Fantasy XV" which has been in development since 2006. It was revealed that "Final Fantasy XV" will be accompanied by a feature film and an anime series upon release. The announcement has definitely made the gaming community to go nuts.

Thus, it is no surprise that after its release two days ago, Square Enix announced via a company press release on its Twitter account, that "Final Fantasy XV" has already sold five million copies during its first day on the market. That makes the latest title as the fastest selling game in the history of the "Final Fantasy" series.

The said press release also made mention that the "Final Fantasy XV" is the first series to launch globally in the same day. This has been attributed as a significant factor in the game's record-shattering sales.

This manner of launch not only benefited the sales of the title but it also gave the gaming community from all over the world to simultaneously enjoy the game at the same time. The gamers sharing their experience as to the game creates a social media buzz, effectively resulting to hype and increased sales.
