NYPD waited for the appearance of Sacramento Kings forward Matt Barnes for questioning regarding assault in the New York night club. Barnes insisted that he is on self defense.

Police wanted Barnes for questioning as reported by New York Post for an alleged assault at the Avenue nightclub in Chelsea on Monday, Nov. 5. Barnes was in the night club after Sacramento Kings loss 98-106 against New York Knicks with his teammate DeMarcus Cousins and a group of friends.

The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m as the 36-year old forward and his group were fighting among themselves. Barnes was reported to choke a woman, who was believed to be his girlfriend. Another person who intervened got hit in the head by a bottle.

Afterward, the fight spilled to another table, went wild to become a brawl. The police was called and Barnes and Cousins was already on their way out. Witnesses told police that Barnes also punched another man during the brawl.

In the video from TMZ, Barnes were captured talking to Cousins about the fight outside the night club.

The 6’7” forward is known for his nasty behavior and temperament. In October 2015 he was involved in a feud with his former team mates in LA Lakers Derek Fisher. Barnes was upset to hear that Fisher was having affair with his wife Gloria Govan, so he left his training camp and drove 95 miles to confront Fisher in Los Angeles.

When Barnes arrived in Fishers’ house, there were some people gathered in the backyard. Barnes confronted Fisher and the two former team mates engaged in a fight. The police was called and Barnes left. Barnes and his wife Govan divorced less than a year later.

This time his temperament has put him in another brawl. While Sacramento Kings still wait for the further report regarding the incident before making decision regarding Barnes.
