The newest addition to the Wolowitz clan is finally arriving on Thursday's midseason finale of "The Big Bang Theory."
For the first time in the history of "The Big Bang Theory," a newborn child will enter the picture in the form of Bernadette and Howard's baby. The special day for the couple happens on the show's Dec. 15th installment, where viewers alongside Sheldon, Penny, Leonard and Raj, will finally meet Bernie and Howie's bundle of joy.
The exciting half-hour episode, however, will skip Bernadette's delivery scene. Speaking with TV Line, executive producer Steve Molaro explains that a woman giving birth on television is "an arena that has been covered fairly well on many shows over the years."
Adding that in Bernadette's case, they intend to focus primarily on "what goes on before we get down to, 'Let's push the baby out.'"
After Thursday's episode, Howard and Bernadette will officially become parents - a new storyline that may change the dynamic of the show among other characters. Although Penny and Leonard have been happily married, it doesn't seem that their storyline is also headed in building a family.
It's unclear at this point if the show will heavily explore on Howie and Bernadette's struggles as first time parents. If that will be part of their trajectory in the back half of Season 10, viewers will have to adjust to a different setting and vibe of the show.
However, this doesn't mean that the storyline will not draw a certain amount of good laughs. Fans should take note that Koothrapali is still very much a part of the show and he will surely play a role in some scenes where the baby is involved.
"The Big Bang Theory" stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. Season 10 airs every Thursday at 8PM on CBS.
