Every K-drama fan would know that Jun Ji Hyun is one of South Korea's most bankable stars and is a prominent influencer of the Hallyu Wave. Given her acting chops and stunning beauty, it's no wonder she's a top star. In her recent drama series, "The Legend of the Blue Sea," the 35-year-old reportedly earns around $85,000 per episode.
Jun Ji Hyun's appearance in "The Legend of the Blue Sea" has allowed her to regain her title as the Queen of CFs. According to MBC's "Section TV," the actress filmed 14 different CFs (commercials) this year and made approximately $12 million from endorsements. This basically means she earns around $850,000 per CF.
Allkpop further reports that Jun Ji Hyun is paid $85,000 not just for every episode of "The Legend of the Blue Sea" but for every episode in every drama series she appears in.
"The Legend of the Blue Sea" once again secured Lee Min Ho's and Jun Ji Hyun's status as Hallyu stars. The fantasy drama is doing well in terms of viewership and reviews, and is being followed by fans not just in South Korea but it many different regions in Asia.
The show has also been introducing cameo appearances from different celebrities since episode 1. Most recently, Jun Ji Hyun and her "My Sassy Girl" co-star Cha Tae Hyun had a mini-reunion on "The Legend of the Blue Sea."
In the drama, Cha Tae Hyun plays a hilarious conman who takes advantage of Jun Ji Hyun's ignorance and lack of knowledge about the modern world.
"It was strange to think I would be appearing in the same shot as Jun Ji Hyun in 15 years. This is the first time I've made such a long [cameo] appearance. I didn't think that I would ever film again with Jun Ji Hyun after 'My Sassy Girl," the actor said, as quoted by Soompi.
"The Legend of the Blue Sea" airs every Wednesday and Thursday night on SBS.
