Draymond Green instantly gives his objection following the NBA and players association announcement of the tentative CBA deal. He called the deal as a heartbreaker.
Green express his upset with the agreement in his series of short tweets on Thursday Dec. 15 as reported by SB Nation. He is the only player who took to social media about his reaction on the CBA deal. Craig Sadley is the one who responded to his tweet, asking the reason of Green’s tweet because he didn’t know anything about it.
One of Green’s objection is the minimum salaries which was raised with the new CBA. Although it rose by almost 50 percent, but the amount is still under $1 million for a season. In his first season in 2012, Green earned $850,000 and his objection is related to the players who has not reached the stardom status.
The CBA deal was reached only a few hours before Green’s reactions, as the NBA and NBPA delivered a joint press release announcing the tentative collective bargaining agreement on Wednesday. According to USA Today there are many key points which balances the benefit for players and teams.
The first key point is the split of basketball-related income (BRI) which will remain 51-49 in favor of players. The definition of BRI is also expanded to benefit the players and team owners. This will give players $1.5 billion more than the previous CBA deal.
Another interesting point is the increase of minimum salaries for veteran players, rookie and the exceptions for free-agent and the mid-level. The agreement increase the salaries for approximately 45 percent. These exceptions are one of the objection which Green has pointed out.
Green is known to be outspoken on and off-court. Just like when he upset LeBron James with a trash talk in the following video:
