Beijing is about to tackle its city's issue with air pollution by introducing a new police group who will specifically handle this problem. This report has made quite a buzz on the Internet on Jan. 10.
The smog problem in China has reached an alarming level that immediate action must be done or their locals will suffer from severe lung cases and other health issues. According to NPR, the government has finally decided to clear their air after a month of experiencing almost nothing but smog in their atmosphere.
The smog is not just an ordinary one that usually happens when it is cold or foggy. This time, it is thick and brown in color and inhaling it will no doubt cause damage to a person's lungs. It has become so bad that one of their local artists even turned China's air into a brick by vacuuming it for 100 days as an experiment. CNN published that report in 2015 and it is still very much relevant to this day.
Beijing's acting mayor, Cai Qi, said that newly appointed environmental cops will man the field to be on the look out for people who are causing air pollution. Such individuals include but not limited to people who are grilling barbecues in the open air, who burning garbages and biomass. The new police force is also going to be strict to those who will contribute dust on the smog issue on the road.
These are the only information that was given regarding the new police force. There was no report, as to whether violators could get arrested or would pay fines if ever they are caught.
Moreover, Reuters published that although China's smog issue is not completely unrepairable, fixing it could still take about 4 decades, but it is not impossible. Everyone is hoping that their country could go back to having fresh and clean air again.
