It has been two years since Girl's Day staged a comeback and made an album. In what feels like years, fans have been waiting for new material coming from the girl group. In a recent interview, Girl's Day member Hyeri opened up about disbandment and why the group's hiatus has lasted so long.
A long hiatus for idol groups often ignites disbandment rumors, and the worst case scenario is that they would break up eventually. A sad example of this is 2NE1.
Girl's Day is turning 7 years old this year, which means the group is about to face the dreaded 7-year curse that has caused the split of many idol groups. When asked if she was worried about Girl's Day disbanding, Hyeri answered in the negative. "We talk about this a lot and we know that we would never disband due to trouble between members," Koreaboo quoted the singer.
On the upside, there's a perfectly good reason for Girl's Day's delayed comeback. According to Soompi, Hyeri explained that although the group has been receiving a lot of songs to choose from for their upcoming comeback they couldn't find the perfect ones that would be fit for Girl's Day.
"All of the members have this pressure to satisfy the fans as much as we've rested. But we do still feel sorry towards our fans since we know what it's like to wait," Hyeri added.
In the meantime, Hyeri has been using her free time wisely. She was recently in Hawaii where she was invited to attend the Honolulu Fashion Week. She also started to learn bowling.
Girl's Day's last album was titled "Love" and was released in 2015. They promoted the album with the title track "Ring My Bell." Girl's Day's "Love" album peaked at No. 3 on Gaon's Weekly Album Chart.
