With the success of standalone series of "Luke Cage," "Jessica Jones," "Daredevil" and the still to come "Iron Fist," Netflix has also invested their money in producing "The Defenders." This week, the first look images of the quartet of superheroes have arrived - giving fans a glimpse into their world as they team-up to bring down the bad guys in New York city.
Entertainment Weekly has shared a total of nine images featuring the major players of "The Defenders" which includes Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. Sigourney Weaver, who plays the show's antagonist Alexandra, is also featured in the newly-released batch of images.
"The Defenders" follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
As to how the show will introduce its four badass superheroes, Collider reports that viewers will see the them arriving at the offices of Midland Circle. In this particular location, "an epic brawl breaks out before they can even properly introduce themselves," wrote the site.
Like most superhero shows, "The Defenders" also has their own version of bad guy they need to take down. In their case, it will be no other than a formidable character played by veteran actress Sigourney Weaver. Her character, Alexandra, has been teased by showrunner Marco Ramirez as an "utter badass."
"Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower," Ramirez told Entertainment Weekly.
"Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She's everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous." He pauses. "I'm sorry. I can only say a bunch of adjectives right now."
Also starring on "The Defenders" are Simon Missick as Misty Knight, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing and Rachel Taylor as Trish Walker.
Netflix will release all eight episodes of "The Defenders" sometime in 2017.
