"Arrow" is not returning until next Wednesday on the CW. As fans wait for the midseason premiere, a new teasing information for the show's sixteenth episode has been dropped by executive producer Marc Guggenheim.
Guggenheim on Thursday has tweeted a script page of episode 5.16, revealing that the title of the episode is "Checkmate." Since it sounds a little bit familiar, the showrunner was quick to clarify that it is not connected to the secret spy organization from the DC comics headed by Amanda Weller.
As expected, the tweet has fueled theories from fans - who are now speculating that "Checkmate" could mean bad news for the Green Arrow. By the way "Arrow" season 5 left off, fans are dead curious as to how Oliver and Felicity will set their agenda in defeating Prometheus.
"Does the title mean Prometheus has Green Arrow trapped and defeated?" said one tweet.
Guggenheim declined to comment to the fan's question. "Checkmate" is co-written by Beth Schwartz and Sarah Tarkoff with director Ken Shane at the helm.
Moving forward, the remaining episodes of "Arrow" season 5 are set to highlight Oliver's days in Russia while also delving deeper into Kovar's storyline. The scoop was revealed by Guggenheim in a report from Comic Book, saying that they are going to do a Russia-centric episode and a flashback-centric episode.
"We'll be doing that later on in the season and that will have Dolph Lundgren's character, Konstantin Kovar, very much front and center," he added.
"Arrow" Season 5 resumes on Jan. 25th on the CW with an all new episode titled "Who Are You?" The episode will finally answer how Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) got back from the dead during the midseason premiere.
"Arrow" stars Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, and David Ramsey.
