Last year has been huge for rising star BLACKPINK after their debut songs "BOOMBAYAH" and "WHISTLE" achieved an all-kill ranking on music charts. Hence, for the new year, the girls are looking forward continue what they have started in 2016.
According to Allkpop, the four-member group did not expect their songs would become an instant hit. BLACKPINK admitted they were hoping to get noticed, stating that there were no big expectations for the debut album.
"When we actually won #1, it felt unreal. We were also startled at the fact that the public noticed us and listened to our songs. It was unbelievable," the girl group said in a recent interview.
The four members shared they appreciate the fact that they had to start from the bottom before they took the top spot. BLACKPINK's Rose said winning the Rookie Award was the most memorable for her.
Meanwhile, Jisoo is hopeful that BLACKPINK will have great impact among fans in 2017. "I hope we become big issues. I want us to become the big issue to people in varying age groups," she said.
Lisa added she would like more people to notice them and their music, while Jennie promised they will work even harder this year not only in producing new songs, but also in their promotional activities.
Recently, BLACKPINK announced that their official fandom name would be BLINK, drawing positive feedbacks from the fans, Soompi cited. Jennie confirmed the news on her birthday through an Instagram post.
The idol branded BLINK as her favorite people, thanking them for their support since the girl group started. In other news, the four-member band was among those who were given the New Artist Award at the 26th Seoul Music Awards alongside NCT 127 and I.O.I.
