BLACKPINK reaches a new milestone after "Boombayah" reaches 100M views on Youtube, and the girls posted on their Instagram account to celebrate and thank their fans.
"Boombayah" was released on Aug. 8, 2016 and hit the 100M mark after 6 months. It's the first MV from the group to reach that number, with the "Whistle" MV coming in second at 78M (only 22M more views to get the 100M mark), Allkpop reported. This is closely followed by "Playing With Fire" at 70M view count, and last but not the least, "Stay" at 34M views.
BLACKPINK was able to achieve the feat just barely six months after their debut. During that time, "Boombayah" immediately netted 10M views in the week that it was released. The YG girl group has now joined the ranks of K-pop stars such as their fellow label mates PSY, BIG BANG and 2NE1 who have reached that milestone.
The girl group took to Instagram to celebrate their achievement and posted a group picture of them while expressing their thanks for their fans in multiple languages, specifically in Korean, English and Thai. The caption of the post thanked their Blinks (the fandom name for BLACKPINK) for the milestone and they will try harder and make them even more proud, as per Soompi.
While there is no official announcement yet from YG on BLACKPINK's next comeback, the fans are happy to celebrate with them for their milestones. Their Youtube view count is just the latest in a string of achievements that the group has earned from last year. BLACKPINK won "Rookie of the Year" from the 2016 Asia Artists Awards and the 2016 Melon Music Awards, as well as "New Artist" from the 26th Seoul Music Awards. Fans might have more reason to celebrate later this week, as their name is also included in the lineup for the 6th Gaon K-pop Chart Awards.
