During his recent interview with Herald POP, Hallyu star Yang Se Jong talked about his experiences before getting his breakout role in the recently finished TV drama series “Romantic Doctor Kim”.
“At that time, I stayed up all night preparing for it. For about 40 minutes, I acted as Do In Bum, and there was also a question-and-answer session. I prepared for it frantically, it was fortunate that the director and the camera director liked it” shares Yang as quoted by Soompi.
“I thought it would end there, but two weeks later, they contacted me again with a script much thicker than the previous one. I thought it was a second audition, so I prepared really diligently, but when I went there, the director told me, ‘You’re In Bum.’ I was so surprised, I stuttered while asking, ‘Can I really be In Bum?’ That was also the day before the script reading,” he added.
Aside from sharing his road to getting the role of Do In Bum, the 24-year-old actor also described his relationship with one of the drama’s lead stars Yoo Yeon Seok. According to him, Yoo has been very helpful not only to him but for everyone in the set as he would always lighten up the atmosphere with his cheerful character.
He further revealed: “ I used to say ‘I love you’ to him whenever I met him on set.”
“Romantic Doctor Kim” unfolds the story of a brilliant surgeon named Boo Yong Joo who later moved to a province, worked in a small hospital and changed his name to Kim Sa Bu after a traumatic incident. The drama premiered on November 7 last year and had its final episode on January 16.
Meanwhile, Yang has recently appeared on SBS’ latest drama installment “Saimdang, Light’s Diary,” Soompi reported. The star played the role of young Lee Gyum (portrayed by actor Song Seung Heon).
