The songs to be featured on "The Flash" and Supergirl's musical crossover are finally revealed.
According to Entertainment Weekly, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" creator/star Rachel Bloom has penned the song "Superfriends," to be performed by Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist on the anticipated crossover event of "The Flash" and "Supergirl."
In addition, Gustin will also render a solo performance of the song "Runnin' Home To You," which was co-written by "La La Land" songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Both songs will be first heard on The Flash's March 21st episode titled "Duet."
Bloom told BuzzFeed News that as soon as she heard about the musical project, she sent an email to the CW Mark Pedowitz who connected her to the show's executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. She immediately offered her services, the actress shared.
"As soon as they picked one of my song ideas, I hopped on the phone with my old Robot Chicken boss Tom Root and we brainstormed and, based on that brainstorm, I wrote up the song 'Superfriends'," Bloom added.
"I am so excited to contribute more to the upward trend that is musicals in television and film."
As previously reported, "The Flash" and "Supergirl" will team-up to take down the Music Meister (played by Glee alum Darren Criss). Fellow cast members Carlos Valdes, Victor Garber and Arrow's John Barrowman will also showcase their singing chops in the episode.
As to what happens next on "Supergirl," the series will introduce the character of a White Martian named Armek on the show's Feb. 6th installment. He arrives to National City intent on taking M'gann back to Mars to face her punishment as a traitor. On The Flash's Feb. 7th installment, viewers will find Barry mentoring Kid Flash and begins to level up his training as a speedster.
