"Pitch Perfect 2" soundtrack singer Ariana Grande and "La La Land" soundtrack singer John Legend perform a duet on the title track for Disney's upcoming live-action remake of "Beauty and the Beast," starring "Harry Potter" actress starring Emma Watson. "The Hitcher" director Dave Meyers is directing the official music video.
According to Deadline, "Beauty and the Beast" stars Watson as Belle, and "The Guest" actor Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince. It also co-stars "Fast and Furious 6" actor Luke Evans as Gaston, "No Strings Attached" actor Kevin Kline as Maurice, "Frozen" voice actor Josh Gad as Le Fou, "Fargo" actor Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, "The Hunger Games" actor Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, "The Hobbit" actor Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and "Burnt" actress Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts. The new rendition of the song for "Beauty and the Beast" is produced by "Inside: El DeBarge" producer Ron Fair. Disney's soundtracks chief Mitchell Leib brought Fair to produce the music. He is also the one who brought Grande and Legend to the project, Variety reported.
Leib has collaborated with Fair on film music dating back to the highly-successful "Pretty Woman" soundtrack. He said in an interview for "Beauty and the Beast" that Fair was his first and only choice to make the recording. He added that no one is better vocal producer other than Fair since he has a great understanding of the filmmaking dynamic.
Grande has been nominated for four Grammy Awards. Legend, on the other hand, has won 10 Grammys and an Academy Award for the song "Glory" in the movie "Selma."
The soundtrack for "Beauty and the Beast" includes three new songs written by Menken and Tim Rice. It will be released by Walt Disney Records on March 10. Meanwhile, the film is set to be released on March 17.
