Enzo returns in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale. Actor Michael Malarkey hinted Enzo is alive when he confirmed his appearance in the last episode.
Malarkey talked about his involvement in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale and revealed he has filmed his scenes already. Does this mean that Enzo is alive?
"I've gone in and done a couple bits here and there. It's nice to be able to wrap this thing up the way they've done it, to know this is the end, and to do it justice," Malarkey told TV Line.
The actor did not reveal any further details about his return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale. However, as far as episode 11 ended, Enzo is already dead. Stefan (Paul Wesley) made sure of that when he ripped his heart out.
Perhaps Malarkey only hinted at Enzo's return in flashback scenes. The trailer for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale showed his girlfriend Bonnie preparing for Enzo's burial. Or is she trying to revive Enzo? It is usually during these scenarios that flashback memories of the deceased play out.
In the same interview, Malarkey acknowledged that "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale has a bittersweet ending. However, personally he thinks that is also sweet.
Meanwhile, Malarkey revealed that Enzo is not the only deceased returning in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale. He said some familiar faces also make their final appearance. These characters include Tyler (Michael Trevino), John Gilbert (David Anders) and Vicki (Kayla Ewell). The trailer may have already given a glimpse at John kissing her daughter Elena on the forehead (see 0:18 time mark).
Spoilers Guide added that Steven R. McQueen is also returning for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale. The actor shared his photo on the set on Instagram. McQueen plays Jeremy Gilbert, Elena's brother. Perhaps he returns for a reunion with his sister and his father John.
