Not all parents approve the idea of having an idol sons or daughters. In fact, most of them would rather equip their children with the right education to prepare them for the future.

And just like anyone of us, Rap Monster has gone through the same when he discovered his passion for music. According to Koreaboo, the BTS member had to convince his parents to allow him to become an idol.

Rap Monster shared he used to be afraid of getting caught writing songs while studying his lessons. "Whenever I got caught, I'd get into a lot of trouble," he said.

But that did not stop him from making his own music. The BTS member later found the courage to approach his mom and told a "cringe-worthy" reasoning.

Rap Monster revealed he promised her that he would become the number one rapper in Korea if she would allow him to pursue his dream. Aside from his talent in music, the idol was also a top performer in school.

"My grades were about 5000th place in the country," he said. "So I asked my mom whether she liked a son that was 1st or a son that was 5000th place."

Following his conversion with his mom, Rap Monster's reckoning appeared to be effective after he was given the green light to follow what he wants to do.

The 22-year-old rapper was drafted as the first member of BTS in 2010. Before his debut with the boy group, Rap Monster used to be an underground rapper.

His parents' decision to allow him to become an idol turned out to be a good choice as Rap Monster is now considered one of the most in demand rappers in Korea as per Soompi.

Last year, the BTS member was among "XXL's" top 10 Korean rappers to check out alongside Zico, G-Dragon and CL. Rap Monster was even compared to Pitbull and Flo Rida for his pop vibes.

"[Rap Monster is] one of the region's most dexterous rappers, capable of switching flows effortlessly as he glides across an array of diverse instrumentals," the hip-hop magazine's description of the idol.
