It's confirmed! Taiwan will have their own version of Song-Song couple's "Descendants of the Sun" after the government reportedly requested for the remake to raise the spirits of their military.
Koreaboo cited several media outlets from Taiwan have already confirmed the remake of the blockbuster hit to meet the appeal of their government. The request came after they saw the impact of "Descendants of the Sun" on the military of South Korea.
Reports stated the Taiwanese version of the Song Joong Ki-starrer will start rolling in April. It was also reported that the adaptation will be launched under the title "The Best Choice."
The production of Taiwan's "Descendants of the Sun" has a budget of about $419,300, which is relatively cheaper than the original version. The remake will be spearheaded by Laing Hsiu-shen, who refused to give further details on the casting.
However, the director said they are looking for someone who is physically fit to take over Song Joong Ki's role as Captain Yoo Shi Jin. He also hinted that some of the actors they have casted are currently serving the military.
"Descendants of the Sun" was among the most successful Korean dramas last year. Aside from winning the hearts of Koreans, the Song-Song couple also captured the hearts of Asians.
The romance drama recently celebrated their first anniversary with a mini-reunion attended by some members of the cast and crew. Allkpop reported Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo were present at the commemoration last Mar. 17.
In fact, the "Full House" actress even shared a snippet from the gathering which proved that their friendship has remained the same even after "Descendants of the Sun" concluded.
On the other hand, fans nostalgic after seeing the actors together, while others are screaming for the continuation of the Song-Song couple's love story.
