"Goblin" is currently enjoying an immense popularity from K-drama fans all over the world. In fact, the fantasy series dominated the list of most-watched dramas of a certain streaming site.
According to Soompi, the Gong Yoo-starrer has surpassed Song Hye Kyo's "Descendants of the Sun" as the most-viewed Korean drama on Video on Demand (VOD). As of Wednesday, "Goblin" has brought in about $12.5 million in revenue which means that some 15 or 16 million users are watching the tvN series through the website.
Similarly, the success of the fantasy drama has opened a lot of doors for actors Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, and Yoo In Na. In fact, the "Goblin" stars dominated the 5th DramaFever Awards held Wednesday, April 26.
Korea Herald cited Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo nabbed the Best Actor/Actress Awards for their roles in "Goblin" and "Descendants of the Sun." Aside from the "Train to Busan" lead, his co-stars Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na were recognized for their supporting roles as the Grim Reaper and Sunny.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was able to show you a good side of myself in "Goblin" which you all loved. I'm so thankful to receive an award," Lee Dong Wook said.
He continued, "I sincerely hope that you'll continue to cheer me on. Please remember "Goblin" for a long time and please keep the Grim Reaper for a long time in your thoughts."
Yoo In Na, on the other hand, said she is thankful that the tvN series is receiving much love and support from the fans. After playing the role of Sunny, the actress promised to work harder to improve on her craft.
Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun's onscreen chemistry in the drama has earned them the Best Couple award at the 5th DramaFever Awards.
For the category, the "Goblin" couple defeated the Song-Song couple of "Descendants of the Sun," Kim Rae Won and Park Shin Hye's teamup in "Doctors," Gong Hyo Jin and Jo Jung Suk from "Jealousy Incarnate," Kim Woo Bin and Suzy from "Uncontrollably Fond," and Eric Mun and Seo Hyun Jin from "Another Oh Hae Young."
On top of these individual recognitions, "Goblin" won the Best Korean Drama (Melodrama) against "Signal," "The K2," "Doctors," "Uncontrollably Fond" and "Descendants of the Sun."
