Kim Min Suk just earned himself the Best New Drama Actor award at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards for his impressive performance in "Doctors" where he played as Choi Kang Soo.
According to Koreaboo, the 27-year-old actor competed against Gong Myung (Drinking Solo), Ji Soo (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon), Kim Min Jae (Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim), and Jung Jin Young (Love in the Moonlight) for the said category.
For the medical drama, Kim Min Suk surprised the viewers when he pulled off a heartbreaking scene where he shaved his own hair after learning about his deteriorating health condition.
"I debated a little bit, but because it was for the character, I wanted to do it [shave my head]," he said as per Soompi. "The writer and PD told me that I didn't have to. They said I could just be wearing bandages to act, but that would be fake."
"I don't want to be fake when I act. If I did it that way, other actors would have difficulty getting into character, and the same holds true for me too," the actor added.
The particular scene in "Doctors" earned much attention from the viewers who were impressed of Kim Min Suk's professionalism. He, however, confessed that he was unaware of the positive feedbacks until the drama concluded.
This is not the first time the actor was recognized for his role in the medical drama. Last year, Kim Min Suk was among those who were given the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards.
Kim Min Suk recently starred in blockbuster hit "Defendant" where he impressed the viewers for playing the mysterious character of Lee Sung Kyu. Prior to that, he also appeared in "Descendants of the Sun" as Private First Class Kim Ki Bum.
Congratulations, Kim Min Suk!
