HyunA is currently a member of Cube Entertainment's newest unit group, Triple H. To anyone who's familiar with the WWE, HyunA's Triple H shares the same name as a popular wrestling champ.
In K-Pop, Triple H refers to a unit group comprised of HyunA and PENTAGON members Hui and E'Dawn (real name Hyojong). They named the group as such because they all have the letter H on their names. In WWE, Triple H is a decorated American pro wrestler who has won 14 world champions in his long-running career in the WWE.
There have been several instances where K-Pop idols came under fire for using the same name as another artist or public figure. For example, idol group Red Velvet was embroiled in a controversy prior to their official debut when indie band Red Velvet protested the use of the name. At that time, the little known indie band was preparing to release a new album and the members believed their promotions would be affected and overshadowed by Red Velvet's activities, which of course is supported by one of the biggest entertainment agencies in South Korea.
HyunA, however, believes no such problem could arise with their use of the name Triple H. According to Soompi, she explained that the wrestler Triple H is already so famous that he probably wouldn't mind sharing his name with the singers. HyunA added that both Hui and E'Dawn have been fans of the wrestler ever since they were young.
"I think if the pro wrestler and we both work hard in our own fields, we will have a positive synergy," HyunA shared.
Triple H is the second project group launched by Cube Entertainment, following the success of Hyuna and Hyunseung's Trouble Maker in 2011. With Triple H, HyunA a more explosive chemistry with the boys of PENTAGON, who are still considerably new to the industry.
"Hui and E'dawn have many talents and I can learn a lot from them. But they just lack experience," HyunA told The Korea Times. "When I am with them, I feel like I become very innocent and it motivates me."
