Hwang Chi-Yeol Fans Donate Nearly 4 Tons of Rice to Feed Needy Children

(Photo : YouTube Screenshot) Fans of Hwang Chi-yeol have contributed over three tons of rice to feed up to 50,000 children.

Fans of Hwang Chi-yeol have sent over three tons of rice to be given to several charities in Korea after the singer pleaded rice donations to children in need.

On June 3, the grounds outside Olympic Hall in Seoul Olympic Park was occupied with floral-decorated stands with a stack of rice bags on each, the Korea Times reported. All 3.76 tons of rice was brought by fans during his Hwang Chi-yeol in Star Avenue event.

Hwang asked his fans to donate rice for the needy children. Some 50,000 kids will benefit from the donations.

Other floral stands also catered to donations from avid fans from Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and North Korea. Furthermore, Chinese fans of the I am Singer Season 4 Korean star allegedly donated money under his name to non-profit organizations that give free foods.

The hallyu star appeared as a guest on the renowned TV variety show Happy Camp on Hunan TV on Saturday, June 11. This is Hwang's third appearance on the show in three months, a record number in the shortest period for a Korean celebrity.

Hwang first made his official debut nine years ago.

In March 2015, Hwang found success after appearing on the show I Can See Your Voice on Mnet Korea.
