Arrow has added a new face to its cast for Season 5.
Tyler Ritter has joined the cast of the DC series in a major recurring role; he will be playing the character of Detective Malone. Ritter would be filling the void left by Captain Lance at Star City Police Department.
Ritter, whose recent TV credits include The McCarthys and NCIS, joins previously cast members Chad L. Coleman as new season villain Tobias Church, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Josh Segarra as Vigilante, and Madison McLaughlin as returning character Evelyn Sharp.
Aside from Ritter., the DC series is also looking to cast a potential new foe/friend for Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen.
The yet to be cast character, Derek Zaba, is described as "a man of fierce intelligence whose wit and humor belie a person wrestling with deep-seated demons."
Raised by a Jewish family, Derek is usually kind. However, he "also can come off as a physical threat."
The character will appear on a recurring basis throughout Season 5.
In other Arrow news, lead star Stephen Amell has recently dropped some tidbits about the upcoming season. The actor revealed via Facebook Live that a familiar face would return, a character who fans have not seen in two full seasons.
Amell also teased that fans should be excited because the show is going to be "f*cking mean" this year, adding that the premiere "has the opportunity for us to have the most vicious, violent one-shot in the history of network television."
What's more, the actor also disclosed that his Arrow costume has gone through some enhancements. He teased that his green suit will be a "slightly modified version" of what fans have seen in the past seasons.
Arrow Season 5 is slated to premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
