"NCIS: Los Angeles" has officially started shooting its upcoming eight season, with new showrunner, R. Scott Gemmil.
Co-executive producer Rick Tunnell announced on his Twitter account that the crime procedural has already began shooting for the upcoming 22-episode eight season.
"We have a plan," Tunnell said.
"Prep at full speed."
Tunnell also teased that "NCIS Los Angeles" Season 8 will feature new guest stars and surprises, while also promising fans that behind-the-scenes photos are "coming soon."
Back in June, the spinoff has gone through some shakeup after its longtime showrunner Shane Brennan left his post to focus on new projects on CBS. According to Deadline, Brennan has been replaced by Gemmill who has been with the show since the pilot episode.
Losing a showrunner is never easy for a long time series like "NCIS: Los Angeles," but with Gemmill taking over from this point forward, the morale of the show remains intact since the newly-appointed boss is experienced enough, having written more than 30 episodes for the series since its debut.
Gemmill's recent credits before "NCIS: LA" include "The Unit," "ER" and "JAG."
One of the exciting things to look forward to in "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 is the eagerly-awaited proposal of Deeks to Kensi, which showrunner Gemmill has addressed recently.
According to TV Guide, Gemmill said that he already knows how his team are going to do the proposal and promised that he will make sure that it will be worth the wait. As to whether Kensi and Deeks will have children in the future, Gemmil said that the duo still need more time before jumping into a life-changing decision.
"NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 8PM on CBS.
