"Lucifer's" second season is officially in the works as the cast and crew have kicked off production in late June. Meanwhile, series star Tom Ellis, who plays the titular devil, has weighed-in on whether his old show "Miranda" will make a return on television.

As posted on Twitter weeks ago, "Lucifer" showrunner Joe Henderson announced that they have started shooting the new season, sharing a behind-the scene image featuring co-stars Ellis and Rachael Harris.

The sneak peek shows the duo in a candid therapy session. In the caption, Henderson teased: "Day 1 of #Lucifer season 2!"

"What better way to start than with a little therapy?"

The writers of the show also did not miss to whet their fans' appetite, sharing also in social media that they have been watching snippets from the upcoming sophomore run. The writers said that they are very excited to share what they have prepared for the fans to see in the new bunch of episodes.

The first season of "Lucifer" ended with a cliffhanger, with the titular character’s evil mother has escaped from hell - a storyline which makes for an interesting second season, since it could open a gateway for the show to introduce Lucifer’s mom.

No word yet from Henderson about the direction of this latest trajectory.

In other news, "Lucifer" lead Tom Ellis has been reported to be working on his old sitcom, "Miranda," in the past few weeks. While there had been no confirmation of this rumor, Ellis has weighed-in on the potential comeback of "Miranda" in a recent interview with Magic FM.

Ellis shared that he and former co-star Miranda Hart had met up to hash out the show, while also adding that they “might revisit it at some point.”

"Lucifer" season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 19 at 9PM on FOX.
