The ongoing Manchester United-Paul Pogba transfer saga is slowly reaching its conclusion as the Old Trafford giants recently reported that the French midfielder is already set for a medical at the club's AON training complex in Carrington, Greater Manchester on Monday.

Caught Offside confirmed the reports on Sunday afternoon, saying that the 20-time Premier League champions have reported in their website "that Juventus had agreed to allow midfielder Paul Pogba to have a medical with the Red Devils".

The 23-year-old France international began his senior career with United coming from the club's youth academy as well. However, after finding himself out of chances in Sir Alex Ferguson's first team, he left the club on a free transfer in July 2012.

The move created much tension between Ferguson and Pogba afterward with the former Red Devils head coach saying "It is disappointing. I don't think he showed us any respect at all, to be honest. I'm quite happy that if they (footballers) carry on that way, they're probably better doing it away from us".

Pogba spent the last four seasons with the Turin residents, winning the Italian Serie A title in all of them. He had appeared in a total of 178 games in all competitions for the Old Lady and had scored 34 goals in the process as the team's main box-to-box midfielder.

He is said to be the kind of player that new United head coach Jose Mourinho is looking for at the moment, which is a tall, strong, quick, tireless, and intelligent box-to-box footballer.

The 6-foot-3 Lagny-sur-Marne, France had been linked to a transfer back to his old club all summer and this latest development might be the last straw confirming the midfielder's return to his boyhood club.

Jose Mourinho almost confirmed Pogba's transfer during his interview after United's 2-1 win over Leicester City in this year's Community Shield match on Sunday, saying that "He (Pogba) is our player assuming everything goes well in the medical, I will be there waiting for him on Tuesday", as per The Guardian.

"We have signed one defender, one striker, one midfielder and a creative this summer so it has been a good market for us. I honestly don't know the exact amount of money we have paid for Pogba, though if it is a new world record I don't think we need to be sad about that. Real Madrid were not sad when they set a new record for Gareth Bale, they were proud," Mourinho added.
