Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ update: Benedict Cumberbatch dishes on what makes Stephen Strange a hero

Benedict Cumberbatch who plays the titular role in "Doctor Strange" recently talked about the journey of his character for the upcoming film.

According to the actor, the power and the strength of his character do not come from magical artifacts. Instead, he sees it as coming from his inner strength, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Cumberbatch has internalized the psyche of "Doctor Strange" beyond the costumes and the magical abilities that the character had within the Marvel universe. He said that beyond the magical powers, "Doctor Strange" is about a broken man who has been down several times but is able to pick himself up time and again.

 "This man reaches the very bottom and then more. You think, how much more can this guy take? He's broken, he gets up again, he's broken - and that's really what makes him a superhero," he said.

So far the trailers for "Doctor Strange" hint at the adversity that Strange has to endure in his path to becoming a superhero. In his path the recover his ability to perform surgery, he will encounter the world of magic where Tilda Swinton's Ancient One will lend an arm.

Aside the story of Dr. Strange's journey to becoming the "Sorcerer Supreme," fans are likewise excited with the amount of computer generated effects in the upcoming film. To this end, Swinton said that the film will not disappoint.

Director Scott Derickson said that the film will deal heavily on other dimensions with fair amount of surrealist art and photography. Swinton backed it up saying that "Doctor Strange" is going to pull off something that no one has ever seen in cinemas before, Comic Book resources reported.

"Doctor Strange" follows the journey of Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who loses his ability to operate on patients after a car accident.

"Doctor Strange" opens on Nov. 4, 2016.
