"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," the open world video game released by Bethesda Studios in 2011, now has a new conversion mod. Titled Enderal, the free mod developed by SuraAI offers free overhaul for the fifth game in the "TES" game franchise.
"Enderal is a total conversion for TES V: Skyrim: a game modification that is set in its own world with its own landscape, lore and story," reads the description in SureAI's website. "It offers an immersive open world, all for the player to explore, overhauled skill systems and gameplay mechanics and a dark, psychological storyline with believable characters."
The mod allows gamers to have another 30 to 100 hours of additional gameplay. It features its own diverse landscape that includes mountains, forests, jungles, a desert, and others. It also has a housing system that lets gamers design the home of their characters.
The skill system has been overhauled and features classes as well as new abilities. The characters, meanwhile, have their own motivations and ambitions, and the story has "psychological and philosophical undercurrents." They have to be good in fighting and needs to survive the different challenges in the game. The developer also overhauled the gameplay with survival mechanics, combat, and experience points.
According to Polygon, Enderal follows in the heels of Nehrim: At Fate's Edge, the mod for "The Elders Scrolls 4: Oblivion" released in 2010 and was also developed by SureAI. Both are basically new games that utilizes the "TES" engine and graphical resources.
The new "Skyrim" mod takes place in the same universe as Nehrim - in the world of Vyn - although Polygon said the events take place in a different continent. It has fewer quests than the original game but the developer says in their website's FAQ that they believe "the depth of our story and the complexity of our characters both surpass those in recent Elder Scrolls games and has different game mechanics."
The mod comes in both German and English versions. It's free for gamers who own a legal copy of "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim," and it does not required any other downloadable content to work.
The minimum system requirements for Enderal are: "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" (Steam); Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win 10 OS; Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5; 13 GB free hard drive space; 4 GB RAM memory; Intel Core2Duo E7400 CPU or equivalent; and GeForce 9800 GTX 1GB or equivalent.
SureAI first released the German version of the trailer and has released the English version on YouTube over the weekend.
