Hugh Jackman shaves off his "Old Man Logan" beard. He posted a new video on his Twitter account on Monday morning. He celebrates that the untitled "Wolverine 3" movie just finished the production.
Jackman is now free to change his looks. According to Just Jared, he captioned the video with "My wife is going to be very happy. #GoodbyeChops #TheDebs." He publicly said goodbye to the signature look of Logan with mutton chops and the "Old Man Logan" beard featured in the untitled "Wolverine 3" movie.
The upcoming "Wolverine 3" movie is rumored to be about the "Old Man Logan" story from the Wolverine comics. The look has shorter hair already, which is based on the adaptation of the comic book storyline. Photos from the set seemed to confirm the rumor. Jackman was seen looking much older in a recent Instagram photo that he posted. At least, he does not have to get rid of his wing-tipped hair and the chops simultaneously, as Comicbook reported.
Jackman has been playing the famous role as Wolverine for approximately 16 years when the first X-Men movie was released back in 2000. He had eight films that include cameos, except the upcoming "Wolverine 3." He has very much been the centerpiece to secure the X-Men film franchise. His stepping out of the character will likely remove that character for at least a few years before any recasting happens. These can change the face of the franchise.
The untitled "Wolverine 3" movie is set to release in theaters on March 3, 2017. The cast includes Patrick Stewart (recurring Professor Xavier for the last time also), Elizabeth Rodriguez (the mutant X-23/the female Wolverine), Boyd Holbrook (the lead villain), Stephen Merchant (unspecified role), and Richard E. Grant (a villainous mad scientist).
Bidding farewell to Jackman as the Wolverine will definitely be sad for 20th Century Fox, producers Bryan Singer and Lauren Schuler-Donner, and everyone else involved. He announced in March 2015 that he will retire his role after this final chapter. He also appeared at Comic-Con 2015 during the Fox panel interview to say goodbye to his fans.
