Sony has announced that "Dark Souls 3" will receive its first ever DLC expansion called "Ashes of Ariandel," available for Oct. 25 for the PlayStation 4. A trailer for the downloadable content was initially posted in Twitter, but has since been taken down private since it reported to be released prematurely.
Gamespot mentioned that the first mention of a "Dark Souls 3" DLC was brought to light in February. That time, there were listings that appeared on digital storefronts when the Season Pass appeared. It was revealed that there are two expansion packs that will be bundled with the $25 Season Pass. The two expansions will be likely available individually as well.
Along with it's release in Oct. 25, Bandai Namco announced Japanese video game magazines that the "Ashes of Ariandel" will featuring new weapons, new magic, and a map made exclusively for Player-versus-Player (PVP) matches, according to Siliconera. There were a few screenshots from the magazine that featured said content, including an area completely covered in snow.
Speaking of weapons and magic, images from the magazine also showed a great sword emanating colorless flames, magic spells with one that looks similar to an icy storm and another one that appears as a circular boomerang of light. There was also a mention of the DLC releasing a PvP-exclusive map called "Immortal Competition."
Being the fourth entry in the "Dark Souls" series (with "Demon Souls" as the first game), "Dark Souls 3" has been widely acclaimed as one of the best sequels in the series, if not the best. It was initially released in Japan in March, followed by a worldwide release in April. "Dark Souls 3" is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
