Super Junior member Kyuhyun must cease all activities following a nodules in his vocal fold. He will have to take 2-3 weeks break while he receiving medical treatment.

His agency, SM Entertainment, announced in a Tuesday's press release about his condition, wherein they said "Kyuhyun needs treatment for vocal fold nodules... He will have two to three weeks off to focus on treatment and recovery as advised by his doctor."

Currently, the singer-actor is one of the host of MBC's "Radio Star" entertainment talk show and is also scheduled to perform in "Mozart!" musical drama starting next week, according to KBS World Radio. Following the doctor's order, he will miss two weeks recordings for "Radio Star" and will also be absent from the "Mozart!" show, which he plays a title role in the Korean licensed performance of the Austrian theater musical.

"The latest move is aimed at making it possible for him to carry out various activities in the future without troubles," Korea Times quoted an official from SM Entertainment as saying. The decision for him to return will be decided based on the progress of his recovery.

Vocal cord nodules are benign growths on both vocal cords. Typically, the nodules are caused by repeated abuse on vocal cords that over time will create soft, swollen spots on vocal cord. The swollen spots will develop into harder, callous-like growths called nodules that upset vocal quality, pitch, loudness, ability to sustain voicing, and disturb other voice characteristics.

Although vocal cord nodules are non-cancerous, it greatly affects singer's performance and damages the health as it makes the voice sound harsh and reduces pitch range significantly. The person with vocal cord nodules also experiences voice and body fatigue due to the excessive energy used to speak.

Medical treatment for this vocal fold nodule involves a surgical procedure. Therefore, Kyuhyun will have to cease all activities and undergo medical treatment. Doctor suggests him to take a break for two to three weeks in order to fully recover.
