Choi Si-Won's more than 3 million followers on Instagram may agree that he is the most handsome K-pop star of today. The 29-year-old South Korean actor and singer is a member of the K-pop group Super Junior and has starred in a film with Hollywood stars Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Adrien Brody.
Not only is Choi one of the most followed K-pop stars. He is also so charming that he caught the attention of the reigning Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who is arguably the most controversial beauty queen from the Philippines of all time.
In a recent interview with Inquirer, Wurtzbach commented on Choi's invitation to watch a Super Junior concert. She said, "I am not aware of the tour dates or where they're going to be (next). I also have my work as Miss Universe so I think that would be the priority."
Born in Seoul, Korea, on April 7, 1986, Choi was 16 when he was discovered by an SM Entertainment talent agent when he was in front of his high school. In 2006, Choi he starred with Fan Bingbing, Andy Lau, Ahn Sung-ki. Nicky Wu and Wang Zhiwen in "Battle of the Warriors," a Hong Kong-Chinese action war drama film was based on Hideki Mori's "Bokko" manga series and Kenichi Sakemi's Japanese historical novel.
In 2015, Choi starred in three international films. He co-starred with actors from South Korea, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan in the crime thriller film "Helios." He starred opposite Eddie Peng, Shawn Dou and Wang Luodan in the Hong Kong-Chinese sports drama film "To the Fore."
After the release of "Helios" and "To the Fore" in Asia, "Dragon Blade" was released in the United States. The historical action film starred Chan as Chinese security company captain Huo An, Cusack as the Roman general Lucius, Brody as the corrupt Roman consul Tiberius and Choi as Yin Po.
Before Cusack was confirmed to be part of the "Dragon Blade" cast, it was rumored that Lucius will be played by Mel Gibson, who is currently in Australia with his girlfriend Rosalind Ross while filming "Hacksaw Ridge," Daily Mail reported.
While declaring Choi as the most handsome K-pop idol ever is arguable, the fact that he is one of the most talented artists from South Korea considering what he has accomplished in 2015 alone.
There are still no details about Choi's next movie after "Helios," "To the Fore" and "Dragon Blade." Watch the "Dragon Blade" trailer here:
